Cllr Hugh Price Warns of Development Impact on Caerphilly Landscape12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st May 2002 Following the current proposal to build a hotel at the Castle Heights golf club on Caerphilly Mountain Welsh Liberal Democrat Cllr Hugh Price has expressed his concerns for the surrounding area. The proposal which would include 84 bedrooms and leisure facilities is currently undergoing a written consultation exercise. Cllr Price has supported the position of Caerphilly Council's Chief Engineer of Highways that the local roads could become over congested. Cllr Price said, "I am concerned about the adequacy of the road network in Caerphilly to support this development. The scale and location of the development poses a potential problem. I am also concerned about the impact of this proposal on the beautiful surrounding landscape and inevitable loss of views." Cllr Price added, "Caerphilly Welsh Liberal Democrats will continue to fight on the Council to ensure that our local environment is protected from insensitive development." Local Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Michael German said, "We must ensure that these proposals are in keeping with Caerphilly's immense natural beauty and are accompanied by any necessary infrastructure development."
