Welsh Liberal Democrats Mike German and Veronica Watkins were married yesterday(Saturday) in a ceremony at St John the Baptist Church, Llanhennock, at the heart of Mr German's South Wales East constituency.

This was followed by a reception at historic Drybridge House, Monmouth for family, friends and colleagues.

Mr German has led a project in Monmouthshire to promote healthy school dinners using local producers and educating children about healthy eating. Food and drink for the celebrations was locally sourced where possible, including a wide range of cheeses and meats, and even Welsh wine.

The couple will be honeymooning in the USA including visits to Chicago, Washington DC and Virginia.

Mike, party leader in the National Assembly for Wales, and Veronica, a science teacher and Newport councillor, will both be seeking election on the South Wales East PR list at the Welsh General Election in May 2007.
