Official statistics have revealed that South Wales East has the worst record for emergency ambulance waiting times in Wales. Local Welsh Liberal Democrat AM Mike German said:
"The Welsh Ambulance service staff are working hard in difficult circumstances, and I want to commend them for their efforts as the services undergoes big reforms.
"However, I am concerned by the news that less than half of ambulances on emergency calls 49.2%, are arriving within eight minutes in South Wales East. In Blaenau Gwent, the figure is 42.6%. Worse still, in Monmouthshire, only 37.8% are arriving within this time.
"I know the Trust needs time and money to be able to provide the best service for people in Wales. I hope that when the forthcoming review is published there will be a clear way forward and the money from the government to achieve these aims. People in Gwent deserve better."
