Another victory for Mike German and 'Drop it to 40' campaigners.

Local Welsh Liberal Democrat AM Mike German and campaigners in Monmouth today celebrated as the speed limit on a dangerous stretch of the A40 near Monmouth was brought down to 50mph.

Mr German said: "I am delighted that the Government have finally listened to us and reduced the speed in the area, but it's not enough.

"I intend to keep on fighting in the National Assembly to bring the speed limit down to 40 mph.

"Local residents want safer roads in Monmouth. They want to see the speed limit brought down to 40mph to save lives, and I will carry on working to make it happen. Too many people have been killed and injured on this stretch of road already."
